Requirements
- Z-NET (all models) or HomeTroller (Zee S2, Pi, Pi G3) flashed with Z-Wave SDK v6.81 or higher.
- Note: older units flashed with SDK v6.51 may also be upgraded but will require an intermediate update to v6.81 with the 500 series upgrade kit.
- HomeSeer HS4 hub with Z-Wave Plus plugin or Home Assistant hub with ZWave JS UI add-on installed.

Upgraded a 500 series with EASE! 4 screws, popped off the old hat, installed the new hat, 4 screws back on and powered it up!
Homeseer provides a simple and clear way to backup and restore your devices to the new 800 series and I even did a zwave to zwave plus upgrade at the same time, little more work but totally worth the effort!
Bravo Homeseer folks to offer such an easy upgrade, thanks from a seriously satisfied customer!
I upgraded my old 500 series Z-Net with this new 800 series hat. Very easy install and migration. The new Z-Wave Plus plugin is much easier to use than the old version.
The upgrade is fantastic, once you get it going. It was a long, complicated process for me requiring a reload of the Pi OS, an interim hardware (newer 500 module), and multiple backup and restores. The documentation for this process wasn't clear, is spread across multiple documents, and misses a few details. Support was helpful, although they stopped responding. Fortunately I was able to guess my way though the last couple of steps.
Now that it is done, it really is a huge upgrade. Problem devices are no longer a problem, and the new dashboard gives a great view of all devices in the network.
To do it again, I would probably just buy a new controller instead of upgrading the legacy Pi 2 based Zee S2.
easy to install and great performance so far with 108 z-wave plus nodes. The 800 Series also seems to be more stable and responsive than the old 300/400 series. I would highly recommend it!
I have no idea if this works as I cannot restore the backup to the controller. I have an open service request for weeks with little to no response.
I have sent screenshots of the issue, offered a screen share and no response to that at all!
Documentation is NOT laid out in a straight forward fashion.
