The upgrade kit worked fine. I think the price was ok, not great. I am using my Z-Net with Home Assistant because it's a more modern platform than Homeseer, which I ran for probably 10-12 years...and of those years only had one major software upgrade (HS4) which was in 2020? Anyway, happy enough with the 800 series upgrade, but really enjoying Home Assistant!
Very easy to remove the old hat and install this new one. Just follow the video instructions.
Upgraded a 500 series with EASE! 4 screws, popped off the old hat, installed the new hat, 4 screws back on and powered it up!
Homeseer provides a simple and clear way to backup and restore your devices to the new 800 series and I even did a zwave to zwave plus upgrade at the same time, little more work but totally worth the effort!
Bravo Homeseer folks to offer such an easy upgrade, thanks from a seriously satisfied customer!
I upgraded my old 500 series Z-Net with this new 800 series hat. Very easy install and migration. The new Z-Wave Plus plugin is much easier to use than the old version.
The upgrade is fantastic, once you get it going. It was a long, complicated process for me requiring a reload of the Pi OS, an interim hardware (newer 500 module), and multiple backup and restores. The documentation for this process wasn't clear, is spread across multiple documents, and misses a few details. Support was helpful, although they stopped responding. Fortunately I was able to guess my way though the last couple of steps.
Now that it is done, it really is a huge upgrade. Problem devices are no longer a problem, and the new dashboard gives a great view of all devices in the network.
To do it again, I would probably just buy a new controller instead of upgrading the legacy Pi 2 based Zee S2.
