I bought two of these items, using both as light detectors. One worked like a charm right out of the box. The other one insisted it was a water detector and wasn't sensing the light detector plugged into it. Had to deal with CS for waaay too long. Got a replacement on the way, soon I hope.
The device works well except when it gets hot. I have two of these in my garage to monitor the washer and dryer. When it gets in the nineties for several days, the device won’t communicate via z-wave. I unplug it overnight and it works again for a while. The one I have indoors works well.
Product advertised with S2 security, but items shipped, while supporting S2, did not ship with a security code to use during the installation. Otherwise works fine.
Works great and easy to set up. I got 2, will get more later. Very happy.
I use this to determine whether my LG TV is on or off, by placing the light sensor over the TV's LED, which is on when the TV is off. When I turn the TV on, the sensor reports that no light is detected, and this triggers an event "Watching TV." When I turn the TV off, the reverse occurs, triggering an event when finished watching TV. The response via the sensor is instantaneous. I highly recommend this device (bought a second when it was on sale).
