Z-Wave Smart Water Leak Sensor
LS100 G8 is a compact, easy to install Z-Wave Plus smart water leak sensor that's designed to send Z-Wave commands when water is sensed or has not been sensed for a period of time. Use with your smart home hub to issue notifications or to automatically control devices (like smart water valves).
Main Features
- Water sensor
- Designed for free-standing or wall mounted installation
- Includes optional magnetic wall mount (with probe cable)
- Works with most Z-Wave certified controllers*
- Supports S2 security
Operation
LS100 G8 may be used to trigger events ("automations") when water leaks are detected. Use to control water valves, send notifications or sound alarms when water leaks are sensed. This leak sensor will send Z-Wave commands when (a) water is sensed and (b) when water has not been sensed for a (user-adjustable) period of time.
The included optional magnetic mount (with probe) allows LS100 G8 to be wall mounted away from leak area. The probe cable may also be used to detect water levels when installed into a container: Example: use to detect "full" water condition in a dehumidifier reservoir.

What can I use the LS100 G8 for?
What can I use the LS100 G8 for?
The LS100 G8 can be used to:
- Detect water leaks
- Monitor for water in areas where leaks could occur
- Monitor temperature
- Detect if the sensor has been moved or removed
- Trigger smart-home automations
- Activate a Z-Wave siren or alarm
- Trigger a Z-Wave water shutoff valve
- Send notifications through your smart-home controller
- Monitor water levels in a container using the remote probe
Where should I install an LS100 G8?
Where should I install an LS100 G8?
Common locations include:
- Near water heaters
- Under sinks
- Near washing machines
- Near dishwashers
- Near refrigerators with ice makers or water dispensers
- Near sump pumps
- Near toilets
- In basements
- Near HVAC equipment
- Near condensate pumps
- Under or near plumbing fixtures
Place the sensor where water is likely to collect first if a leak occurs.
Where can the LS100 G8 be installed?
Where can the LS100 G8 be installed?
The LS100 G8 can be used as a free-standing sensor. Simply place it on a flat surface in an area where water could accumulate.
The LS100 G8 includes a magnetic wall mount with a wired probe assembly. This allows the main sensor to be mounted on a wall while the wired probe is positioned on the floor or in another location where water needs to be detected.
Can the remote probe be used to detect water in a container?
Can the remote probe be used to detect water in a container?
Yes. The probe can be positioned inside a container to detect a high-water condition. For example, it can be used to detect when a dehumidifier reservoir or other container has filled with water.
Does the LS100 G8 require a Z-Wave hub or controller?
Does the LS100 G8 require a Z-Wave hub or controller?
Yes. The LS100 G8 communicates using Z-Wave and requires a compatible Z-Wave controller or hub to configure the sensor and use its information in automations. It works with HomeSeer and other Z-Wave-certified controllers.
How does the LS100 G8 detect a leak?
How does the LS100 G8 detect a leak?
The sensor uses electrical probes to detect the presence of conductive liquid. When liquid is detected, the LS100 G8 sends a Z-Wave notification to the controller. It also sends another notification when the liquid is no longer detected.
Can I use the LS100 G8 to automatically shut off my water?
Can I use the LS100 G8 to automatically shut off my water?
Yes. The LS100 G8 can be used as the trigger for a compatible Z-Wave water shutoff valve. To do this, you'll need a Z-Wave motorized water valve (like the HomeSeer WV100) or smart water valve actuator and a Z-Wave compatible smart home hub.

Working as expected with several leak sensors on network
The 2 LS100's I already have are working as expected and now that I have created an event tying them to a Zooz water valve actuator, the combination is key to minimizing the mess created by a water leak!
Worked as expected out of the box
Not much to really say. It does an excellent job detecting leakes and also monitors temperature.
Purchased a 5 pack of the HomeSeer LS100 G8 Leak Sensors, after we had a water leak in our home while we out. I sure wish I was proactive and thought to buy them before the leak. I am confident we could have greatly reduced the amount of damage our house suffered. I have not had a real live experience with my new sensors, but have done plenty of testing with them. I have set them up to send an "Emergency" push notification using Pushover 3P on my HomeSeer system and Pushover.net app client on my phone. The sensors react immediately and I receive the push notification arrives within seconds with an alarm sound that must be acknowledged to silence. Hoping I never need it... But so glad I now have it!!!
