the AK Bond plugin installs automatically and smoothly, finds the Bond device, configures devices and just works. What more is there to say! It's what every plugin should be. Plus the author gives great support.
I prefer Minka fans. The only negative to these fans is the limited home automation interface. Bond came along to fill that void.
The Bond interface seems a little weird. For example, the light dimming is time based which makes it nearly impossible to program. That said...
This plugin works well with Bond. I might say it even improves the usability of Bond. All the functions work perfectly... except for the light dimming. But, that is not the plugin it is the weird Bond interface. Another example, Bond is Alexa compatible... Alexa has problems with the dimming too.
The plugin is very complete, you can even turn off and dim the LED on the Bond transmitter.
I had a great experience with the weather station plugin from this author, and that is also true for this Bond plugin.
I am not shy about getting a refund for a plugin that either does not work, or has bad support. But, this is the second plugin from this author I have tried that has been awesome. And, so if the need arises in the future, I would try his plugins before others if available.
nice job
Dont forget to power cycle your bond device to enable the security authentication to kick in. As soon as I did that all the child devices appeared and I was then able to control.
Really happy with the purchase. Works exactly as I hoped to control my fireplace through Homeseer.
I would give this plugin five starts for usefulness, but zero stars for support. In my recent support experience, support responded with argumentative comments and ignored relevant information and questions asked.
I was one of the first customers for the first HS3 version of AKBond. I helped debug a nasty timing issue with AKBond running under HS3 on a Raspberry Pi (Linux). The developer was able to fix the issues based on the suggestions I provided. I gave the HS3 AKBond a 5 star rating and did not have any issues with it after that including upgrading my HS3 system to HS4.
Recently I rebuilt my Pi system with a clean install HS4 (to get unlimited plugins) and restored the old HS4 configuration. This process required re-installing any plugins (except Z-Wave).
I installed the HS4 version of AKBond instead of the HS3 version I had been running. This is where things went south and I got no helpful support, just attitude.
I finally figured out that the issue was upgrading from an HS3 AKBond to the HS4 AKBond. It is not that it won’t work at all which was the most frustrating part to figure out. I can’t find anything in the AKBond support help forum about this issue. Beware that when switching between versions of AKBond you MUST delete not only the Bond devices but also any Bond bridges associated with those devices or things will not work right. After deleting the bridges and devices then you can follow the instructions in the AKBond help forum to install AKBond.
